SelectInput is a collaborative project of Pandelis Diamantides (hi-hat and computer software a.k.a 'iHAT'), Stelios Manousakis (live electronics, programming) and Thanos Polymeneas Liondiris (double bass, computer) that commenced in 2007. It is based on live-sampling, improvisation and interaction - between the players and between the sounds of their instruments.
This collaboration results in the creation of an immersive post-digital sonic world that is enhanced by the physicality of instrument playing. The acoustic instruments are processed in real-time and their sound is manipulated and deconstructed through a complex network of algorithms and various digital signal processing (dsp) software. The individual aesthetics of each member converge into a novel musical world, where different musical styles and forms are being introduced, warped and decomposed during a performance.
SelectInput will present a piece, specifically composed for the opening of soundmuseum.fm, an online museum for contemporary sound art. The piece, Still Life: digital granary with double bass, hi-hat, combs and rings, will be part of the soundmuseum online gallery. The soundmuseum site will be online from September 14.
